Problems in existing Play to Earn games
Video gaming is a booming billion-dollar industry that is expected to rise enormously in the next decade. With the advent of blockchain and play-to-earn gaming, we suddenly have the boundaries between leisure and profit-making activity slowly becoming combined.
In the current market, there are just not many video games that give players a chance to earn decent money without a huge upfront investment. Even then, once the initial characters are bought or money is invested, there is huge diminishing returns and one will slowly see the income dwindle over time due to oversaturation in the market and players farming more and more tokens causing a huge overflow of supply and a subsequent price crash.
What is Sustainable Play to Earn (sP2E)?
With the current driving entrance of metaverse and the so called GameFi world, a number of blockchain games have spawned which offers players a way to "earn" through participating in games and other quests in game. What we have realized is that this model is unsustainable and over time, the investors that initially bought characters such as Axie Infinity for breeding and/or farming SLP will over time witness a decrease in income.
Taking these factors into consideration, we have designed World of Cryptoids to offer players a sustainable source of income based on a number of built-in mechanisms.
What makes World of Cryptoids different?
Cryptoids offers a new take on Play to Earn called Sustainable P2E (sP2E) which offers players a way to earn back their ROI at a sustained rate rather than one that fluctuates based on a number of variables. We expect that this economy combined with our token distribution schedule will allow investors to be able to predict the average rate of income for their purchase over its lifetime. This not only allows players to earn at a comfortable level but is also a lot more forgiving to players over the lifetime of the game.
World of Cryotoids will include a few new token mechanics that will help to improve the in-game token economy. The core token that will be farmed is $CGC which will provide users with a steady source of income and thus our main price mechanisms will be centered around keeping the price of $CGC stable. We will do this through:
Burning of $CGC through breeding of new Cryptoids
$CAC used for breeding Cryptoids will also be used to purchase more $CGC for burning
Buy-back of tokens through WoC treasury funds
Capping of the number of Cryptoids available to be bred - this will not only limit the number of available Cryptoids on the market but will steadily increase the value of Cryptoids as more players join
The next stage of this new token economy is to bring around new additional use cases of $CGC and that will be introduced in World of Cryptoids.
Bringing profit to players
The current iteration of blockchain and play-to-earn gaming is far from being user-friendly. The vast majority of players are spending and losing rather than earning.
One of the core philosophies for the World of Cryptoids team is to provide a sustainable ecosystem where players can generate a secondary source of income without spending an enormous amount of time within a single game ecosystem. There will be many in game activities enabling players to earn and profit.
We have implemented a number of ways in which players can enjoy this income source namely:
Breeding and selling of Cryptoids, generating a profit through the purchase of $CAC and $CGC, and subsequently selling the generated Cryptoids which may have superior traits
Adventure mode gameplay (PVE) will allow users to farm $CGC tokens and these rewards will steadily be increased as users start to level up their Cryptoids and unlocking new levels
Arena mode - Player versus Player (PVP) will also see players earning a sustainable source of income through winning battles. The number of $CGC tokens rewarded will be based on the difference in ratings between the two players. Winning against a higher ranked player will yield more mCGC rewards. This drives the game to reach an equilibrium and also prevents players from abusing the system.
Competitions and regular giveaways for players
Land sales and subsequent World of Cryptoids: The Kingdom gameplay will allow users to tax players occupying the land for farming, bringing an additional way to farm even more $CGC.
Token System
The 2-token system of World of Cryptoids ($CGC and $CAC) will be used to bring a balance to the gaming ecosystem. Both tokens will be added to the treasury whenever a new Cryptoid is bred and the Cryptoid Treasury will also regularly burn tokens in accordance with the amount of $CGC being in circulation.
This token system will also bring about an interesting way to balance the breeding system. As Cryptoids begin breeding more and more, they will be fatigued and further breeding with the same Cryptoids will require more and more tokens. For the rarer breeds of Cryptoids, this ensures that a limited supply of rare and mythical Cryptoids are on the market at a certain time.
